After 22 stages and a total of 185 measurements, the Historic Acropolis Regularity Rally concluded as the fifth round of the National Regularity Championship, drawing 15 international entries. Vassos Theodosiou and Konstantinos Piperos, driving a 1974 Lancia Beta Coupe, reached the top on Saturday and held their lead until the end. With a total penalty score of 133.1 points, this experienced duo celebrated their first victory in the Historic Acropolis Rally, also clinching first place in Category H. In second place were Harald Hekerle and Brigitte Schneider, long-time rally participants in Greece, competing this year in a 1973 BMW E10 2002 Touring. They initially led the first leg but couldn\u2019t withstand the pressure from the leaders, finishing with 140.2 penalty points and securing second place in Category H. Georgi Andonov and Yordanka Andonova, driving a 1979 Volvo 244 GLE, finished third, with a total penalty of 144.3 points and claimed first place in Category I.<\/p>\n

Ioannis Katsaounis and Matthaios Mansolas, driving a 1979 Volkswagen Golf I, finished fourth. The 2014 rally winners gained four positions in the more challenging second leg, held onto fourth place, and secured second in Category I with 148.7 penalty points. Improved from the previous year, Turkish Regularity Champions Selim Bacioglu and Handan Bacioglu drove a 1975 Mercedes Benz 230\/4, finishing fifth overall and third in Category H with 154.3 penalty points. The 2021 rally winner, Christian Crucifix, partnered with Jennifer Hugo, this year\u2019s Historic Monte Carlo Rally winner, placed just behind. The team, driving a 1985 Peugeot 205, was in second place on Friday night but dropped in rankings on Saturday before rallying back on Sunday to finish seventh overall and first in Category J1 with 174.3 penalty points.<\/p>\n

Christos Tsiogas and Sotiris Koliopoulos in a 1968 Ford Escort RS2000 MKI, finished seventh overall and first in Category G with 179.6 penalty points. Aristotelis Ninios and Stelios Voudouris in a 1984 BMW E28 528i took eighth place overall and second in Category J1, surpassing Aris Georgousopoulos and Nikolaos Kontopou, who placed ninth overall in a 1986 Volkswagen Golf II and claimed first in Category J2. In tenth place overall and second in Category G, George Georgakopoulos and Tasos Douros drove a 1968 Morris Mini, followed closely by last year\u2019s rally winners, Athanasios Ntzoumanis and Vasilios Tsobanidis in a 1972 Alfa Romeo Spider S2, with Kyriakos Kofinas and Nikolaos Kofinas behind them in a 1990 Volkswagen Golf II, securing first in Category J2. The duo held third place on Friday but dropped in the more challenging Saturday leg.<\/p>\n

Triantafyllos and Maria Margetis placed 13th overall and third in Category J1 with a 1984 BMW E28 518i, followed by Dimitris Kalogeras and Christos Diamantopoulos in a 1982 Renault 5 Alpine Turbo. In Category I, Antonis Nikolaidis and Georgios Kaioglou took third in an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT from 1978. The Romanian team of Stefan Marinescu and Mirela Radulescu completed the top three in Category G with an Opel Commodore from 1969.<\/p>\n

Aris Papakonstantinou and Nikolaos Poulieris placed third in Category J2 with a 1990 Renault 19. In Category J3, Giorgos Vaxevanakis and Argyris Michalopoulos won in a 1991 Toyota Celica, followed by Viorel Stefan Ognean and Florin Mitea in a 1991 Lancia Delta Integrale. Nikolaos Papadimas and Konstantinos Papadimas completed the top three with a Nissan 200 SX. In Category E, Christos Vlachos and Dimitris Lykogiannis won with a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta 750.<\/p>\n

Finally, in the Youngtimer Category, the team of Iakovos Melanitis and Andreas Pitarakis, driving a 1994 Ford Escort RS2000, emerged victorious, finishing ahead of George Kanellopoulos and Nikolaos Kritsikis in the rally\u2019s newest car, a 2000 Toyota Celica TS. Mihai Vulpe and Razvan Catana, who came from Romania to participate in the Historic Acropolis Regularity Rally, rounded out the podium with a 1998 Dacia Nova GT.<\/p>\n
